Sun Rays

Sun Rays

“I will waken the morning star!” (Psalms 57:9)

So said King David, “Rather than the morning awakening me, I will awaken the morning.” (Jerusalem Talmud)

“The sun that shines on every one of us, wherever we may be and whatever we may be doing, teaches us how divine energy animates each of us. It also demonstrates for us the role of a true leader – one who selflessly serves as a shining role model of what it means to be a man of G-d. A leader who, like the sun, illuminates and warms each one of our souls, motivating and igniting our spark to live up to the divine image in which each of us was created. Instead of being self-centric, driven by our own short-sighted self-interests, we should be G-d-centric, dedicated to serving others with love. To be givers instead of just takers.”

-The Meaningful Life Center

In the beginning of Kohelet it says, “there is nothing new under the sun”. The sun is the unconditional, unwavering presence of G-d’s light and love. The represented an everlasting, continuous light that shines the same no matter what. There is a sun above, and a sun within.

Here are 3 practiced to invite in sun-energy:

  1. In the book of Malachi, it states “And the sun of mercy shall rise with healing in its wings” (3:20). Rub the palms together to create heat and friction and place them on an area of the body that needs warmth and love (ex: heart, forehead..). Let any coldness or stuckness in the body move, creating space for new life. Just like the sun photosynthesizes plants, let your inner sun illuminate new growth and potential!

  2. Close the eyes and visualize the bright light of the sun, purifying and illuminating your brain. If distracting or negative thoughts come, focus on the visual of light.

  3. Take 3 intentional breaths: inhaling in cooling air, and exhaling hot, sun air into the body. Feel the body warm up with each breath.
